Economy woodland & shade mix with wild orchids

This is a more economic but still species rich mix with wild orchids for those creating larger areas in woodland and shade conditions

This mix contains the unique sought after wild flower species that my mixes are known for,
23 species in all, including Early Purple Orchid and Common Spotted Orchid, look through the list below to see the full range of beautiful wild flowers I have included. This mix will provide you with a very long flowering season from April to mid-September or beyond. It contains a ratio of 20% wild flowers to grasses. It is suitable for all soil types. It should be seeded at a rate of 3g per m2.

This mix contains only perennial wild flowers which will survive and spread year after year by their root-stock and vegetative growth without the need for additional seeding. Being perennials expect the majority of flowering to occur from the second year after seeding and every year thereafter. Woodland and shade habitats are not suitable sites for sowing my colourful annual wild flower mixtures which prefer more sunny conditions, the only other seed mix for use in these shaded conditions is my special luxury woodland and shade mix.

Please note: dark areas under Sycamore, Holly or Beech trees etc. can be too shaded to allow for the germination of seeds, if the area is largely bare ground beneath you must question why and assume it too dark and consider either letting more light in or using my wild flower bulbs or you can use my mature wild flower plant collections for woodland if there is enough light evidenced by other plants surviving at ground level (excluding the presence of ivy or plants from bulbs).

I have carefully created these seed mixtures from my experiences gained from over 14 years creating wild flower lawns & meadows for clients and they are well balanced to produce a rich and colourful wild flower grassland with a very long flowering season.
