Woodland and shade wild flower seeds mixture

34 beautiful woodland wild flower species including Orchid

My native seed mixtures are unique, so please browse through their contents and you will see many species, such as wild Orchid and Helleborine, which are not usually available within a commercially available mix. All seed is of native British origin.

Woodlands tend to be a less floristically diverse and colourful habitat when compared to meadows; to compensate for this I have created a unique woodland mix containing an exceptionally diverse range of native woodland wild flowers, 34 in total, at a higher than normal ratio of 30% wild flowers to grasses.

If you have a shaded area of your garden or a hedge bank that you wish to seed with wild flowers or an area under the canopy of a large tree, then this mix would be the one to choose.

Please note: dark areas under Sycamore, Holly or Beech trees etc. can be too shaded to allow for the germination of seeds, if the area is largely bare ground beneath you must question why and assume it too dark and consider either letting more light in or using my wild flower bulbs or you can use my mature wild flower plant collections for woodland if there is enough light evidenced by other plants surviving at ground level (excluding the presence of ivy or plants from bulbs).

If you fancy sowing an individual woodland wild flower consider the beautiful native white Wood Anemone (view my blog on this flower by clicking here) or the yellow Lesser Celandine (view my blog on this flower by clicking here), both are good for shaded areas where little else grows, both of these species can form a wonderful carpet of colour. You can find these on my uncommon seeds page which you can view by clicking here.

Also great for using in shaded areas is my winter and spring flowering bulb collection which you can view by clicking here.

I have carefully created these seed mixtures from my experiences gained from over 14 years creating wild flower lawns & meadows for clients and they are well balanced to produce a very rich and colourful wild flower grassland with a very long flowering season.
